International Vincentian Scholarship Program
Since its founding in 1898, DePaul University has been sponsored by the Midwest Province of the Congregation of the Mission. Founded by Saint Vincent de Paul in 1625, the Vincentians are an international Congregation of priests and brothers in the Roman Catholic Church. Today more than 4,000 Vincentians serve in 74 countries seeking to follow Jesus Christ the Evangelizer of the Poor by serving their brothers and sisters who are most in need.
In order to make a contribution to the development of Vincentians in other countries outside of the United States, as well as to experience Vincentian cultural diversity, DePaul University established its International Vincentian Scholarship Program in 1999. This program provides graduate scholarships to Vincentian priests and brothers from provinces and vice-provinces of the Congregation of the Mission particularly in areas of the developing world. While undertaking their studies these priests and brothers live at the local Vincentian Residence. They also provide volunteer service in various capacities at the university.
Vincentian Community Service Fellowship Program
The purpose of the Vincentian Community Service Fellowship Program is to give concrete expression to DePaul's Catholic, Vincentian and urban identity by promoting leadership development in Chicagoland, Church-based, non-profit, social service agencies or schools. The program provides graduate education opportunities and Vincentian formation and spirituality for committed practitioners in these agencies.
Former Vincentian Volunteers Scholarship Program
The purpose of the Former Vincentian Volunteers Scholarship Program is
to provide an opportunity to those young women and men who have recently finished
their term of service as a full-time Vincentian volunteer in either the Gateway
Vincentian Volunteers of St. Louis, Missouri or Colorado Vincentian Volunteers
of Denver, Colorado. Each recipient has clearly dedicated his or her life
to one of working for the common good in the spirit of St. Vincent De Paul. Rewarding
each with a full Graduate tuition scholarship is one way of insuring that they
will have the skills and knowledge to do this work effectively and professionally.
