One of the strengths of the university is our dedication to exploring the intellectual underpinnings of our mission and values. To this end, the Office of Mission and Values sponsors a series of lecture programs in which we invite a wide variet of noted experts to share the research, questions, conclusions and insights of their research to an academic community which seeks to engage the great questions of our time from DePaul’s distinctive institutional perspective.
Authors at Lunch
In this series, the Office of Mission and Values invites DePaul faculty members and outside scholars to speak about their recent publications on topics that, broadly speaking, engage discussion from the perspective of the university’s Catholic and faith-based identity.
Vincentian Lectures
In this series, which includes the St. Vincent de Paul, St. Louise de Marillac, and Blessed Frederic Ozanam lectures, the Office of Mission and Values invites members of the university community or outside experts to address issues of Vincentian history, spirituality, or praxis.
DeAndreis-Rosati Memorial Archives Lectures
The DeAndreis-Rosati Memorial Archives (DRMA) are the archives of the Midwest Province of the Congregation of the Mission. Since 2001, these archives have been located at DePaul University. This quarterly lecture series, co-sponsored by the archives, the Vincentian Studies Institute of the United States, the Archives and Special Collections Department of the Richardson Library, and the Office of Mission and Values, presents authors and researchers who have used the DRMA archives, or who have written scholarly studies on topics of Vincentian history.
Catholic Intellectual Traditions Series
The Catholic Intellectual Traditions Series (CIT) purpose is to promote conversation and education around particular contributions of the Catholic Intellectual Tradition to the intellectual life of the university. This lecture series is presented in collaboration with Academic Affairs, Catholic Studies, the LAS Religion and Society Lecture Series, and University Ministry.
Annual Martin Luther King Lecture
The Office of Mission and Values contributes to the university-wide effort to honor the memory and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King each year by offering an annual presentation on various aspects of Dr. King’s work.
Mission and Values Lectures Survey
Mission and Values has conducted research to gauge the effectiveness of, and interest in, the lectures that we sponsor. To this end we, along with Joseph Ferrari, Ph.D and graduate student Jessica Velcoff (LAS: Psychology Department) have surveyed attendees from 2005 to 2007. The results of the study are posted below.
