Opportunities and Privileges for DePaul’s Staff Retirees

DePaul University values the important contributions of its staff retirees.  The DePaul University Staff Emeritus Society was founded in 2003 to strengthen ties between the university and its staff retirees, and foster their continued participation in the DePaul University community.  The Society is sponsored by the Office of Mission and Values.

Membership in the Staff Emeritus Society (SES) is open to all staff who have retired from the university with 20 years of full-time service and are 55 years or older, or have retired from the university with 10 years of full-time service and are 62 years or older.  Retired staff members meeting these criteria are eligible for the university’s retiree health and prescription drug benefit package.

SES Members enjoy a range of benefits and privileges:

  • Communications and University Resources

SES members always have a direct connection to DePaul.  Members retain a university ID card and e-mail address, and may use faculty/staff/alumni computer labs, photocopiers and computer printers upon opening a Demon Express Account.

Benefits include access to all university libraries, including electronic resources and borrowing privileges with ILLINET Online libraries, the services of Campus Connect, DePaul’s Internet portal, the Technology Assistance Center, and DePaul Town Square.

Members receive university communications in both paper and online formats, including Newsline, DePaul Magazine, SES Newsletter, and the DePaul Information Directory.

  • Special Events and Volunteer Opportunities

SES members enjoy a full calendar of social occasions, including invitations to twice yearly luncheons, the university picnic each summer, the Distinguished Service Award luncheon, Music School performances, and the All Souls’ remembrance.

In addition, retirees are invited to participate in the bi-annual Vincentian Heritage Tour for Faculty and Staff.

Retirees can contribute to DePaul through volunteer service.  Opportunities include Vincentian Service Day, serving on select university committees, or working on specific events or programs, such as Commencement, University Ministry Parents’ Weekend, or the university’s Annual Giving campaign.

  • Discounts

Members receive discounts on course tuition, university parking, athletic events, Theatre and Music School productions, Ray Meyer Fitness Center use, and at university bookstores.
