Our Lady of Guadalupe

Our Lady of Guadalupe is a 16th century Roman Catholic Mexican icon representing an apparition of the Virgin Mary. Guadalupe's feast day is celebrated on December 12th, commemorating the traditional account of her appearances to Juan Diego on the hill of Tepeyac between December 3, 1531 and December 12, 1531.

Our Lady of Guadalupe is a symbol of significant importance to Catholics especially in the Latino communities. Catholics in many cities and towns around the world find their own unique ways to celebrate in community the feast day of Our Lady of Guadalupe. DePaul University is no exception, for more than a decade a small group of staff and faculty have collaborated to ensure a celebration in honor of OLG takes place on campus, with a significant increase in participation in the last few years. The mission of this group is to “promote the devotion of Our Lady of Guadalupe”.
