Interior Text
His love- his charity- gradually transformed him as a young man from being a talented, ambitious, self centered, and decidedly average priest; making him instead an unforgettable figure in his own age and someone known forever to history as the "apostle of charity;" a saint who as a brilliant organizer of resources and people changed the world for the better by "doing good, and doing it well." Monsieur Vincent: priest, servant of the poor, church reformer, founder of the Congregation of the Mission, the Confraternities of Charity, the Ladies of Charity, and co-founder of the Daughters of Charity was very much a man of the 17th century, but remains a person, a saint, for the 21st century and beyond. Standing at Vincent's side, but not in his shadow, was another remarkable saint: his decades-long friend, spiritual directee, and collaborator Louise de Marillac: Mademoiselle Le Gras. Devout noble woman, wife, widow, mother, grandmother, spiritual guide, mystic, artist, and co-foundress of the Daughters of Charity.
